Hello all

Here’s the weekly update:

League Players: Be sure to read Para No 7 below  Otherwise you may not be able to play in the League!

1.  Wednesday 19th October – coaching as usual 5.30 – 6.45 pm. Remember there are two groups, the regular one for Juniors and a special separate coaching group for adults. The adults group has its own separate area in the School dining hall with 3 or 4 tables and lots of space to play. Parents – why not bring your trainers and have a go? Jo Kuzu , one of our local community coaches, specialises in teaching the sport to adults and would be pleased to see you. It’s just £1.50 for Club members and £2.00 for non-members.

Please note that from 7.00 to 9.00 the venue is limited to League match play. So far this term we have allowed some of the young players’ coaching group to stay on after 7.00 to practise, but we cannot guarantee that extra facility as we cannot always supervise them properly and safely, as well as organise matches. So please could parents of young players who are not involved in matches be prepared for them leaving the venue around 7.00 pm.

2.  Please note that the 26th October is during half-term week and will be a free week ie no League matches and no coaching either as the venue will be closed.

3.  Membership – Payment and forms etc – I would like to say that this year has been our best ever for getting in the dreaded paperwork and money at the start of the season. Can I thank you all for your co-operation. There are just a few bits outstanding – please contact me if you are not sure whether you are up to date.

4. I am pleased to tell you that Tai Bratcher was chosen as Club ’Player of the Month’ for September. He really committed himself to the pre-season training and was a very deserving winner of the trophy.

5. League Results - Did you know that you can keep right up to date with League results? You can either go to our own ‘under construction’ website – www.ptcttc.org.uk - and follow the link for League results, or go direct to the League website – www.pdtta.co.uk  - and follow the link for ‘Pairs-Progressive’ to get match results, league tables and player averages. I’ve attached the very early League Tables to this email. Have a look! Majestics, Diamonds, Giants and Bears are all unbeaten and leading the way in their Divisions.

6. Successes! Did you know that two of our young players – Finn Morgan-Bayliss and Jamie Trevillion – are now both in the top 50 of the National Ranking Lists for Cadet (Under 15) players? They both now play at a high level in the Bournemouth adults league as well as taking part in various tournaments and National League events around the country. Jamie has been especially busy with tournaments recently and has caught up with Finn in the rankings, though when they met in the recent Dorset Closed tournament in the new Portchester Sports Hall it was Finn who came out on top. Finn also won both the Cadet and Junior tournaments at the Bournemouth One Star event, also held at Portchester, the following day. A great weekend for him. Their success is fantastic for the Club and is proof that with similar dedication and the right support, our newer players could eventually go far in the sport as well.

I’ve also just heard that yesterday’s Young Players Tournament at the Waterside Club in Totton was won by Ollie Crossley, with Zac Dowling in 4th place and good performances from some of our other players. Congratulations to them!

                                                <<<<<<IMPORTANT  -  ETTA Membership>>>>>>

It’s essential for me to know ETTA Player Member or Player Licence numbers for all of you who play in the Poole Pairs League so that I can complete your registrations. Please email them back to me as soon as possible, stating whether they are Player Member (the £3.00 ones) or Player Licence (the £13.00 ones) numbers (These are double for adults though generally you would only need the £6 one).  See the attached ETTA IR form for information and details required. So far I have numbers from Tom Allcorn, Emma B, Tai B, Ollie C, Zac D, Jacob E, Katie H, Matti K, Kieran L-H, Hannah Mc, Finn M-B, Lewis N, Ruth, Shay P, Bethany S and Alex C.

If you have not yet registered with the ETTA for this year you need to do so URGENTLY by phone or online. Phone number is 0845 0500 388. Website is www.etta.co.uk. If you have applied by post and are waiting for a reply, please let me know as well. This registration has to be done for you to continue playing in the League.

Hello all

Just very briefly……………….

On Wednesday (12th), at Portchester, in the main building as normal, there is:

1.    Coaching from 5.30 to 6.45.

This will be for young players ( Cadets and Juniors and for the older but young at heart if they wish!) led by James Lewis, with support from local coaches.

Also a separate section for adults, led by Jo Kuzu . Just turn up - £1.50 for Club members and £2.00 for non-members.

All ages and levels welcome! If you are bringing your youngsters, why not stay yourself and have a go!!

Your first session will be free!

2.    Poole Pairs League matches 7.00 to 9.15

We now have an extra team registered to play in the Poole League – the P-T Hawks who will be represented by Trey Walsh and Shane Ngwenya . We welcome them and wish them well for the season!

There were some cracking good matches last week and everyone played well. Serious matches do bring the best out of young players and we saw lots of evidence of that. Well done.
